NWC: close the demo and go back to Newcastle Web Co

Demo by Newcastle Web Co. This is a demo design and not a real business. Every design is one of one: when a business picks it, no one else gets it.

Demo, not a real business.

A painting crew from Adamstown

Corella Painting has painted houses, roofs, decks and offices across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie since 2011. One crew, written quotes with every coat on them, and the prep done properly.

We started Corella because too many repaints around Newcastle were peeling within a few years, and nearly every one of them came down to prep.

Where we come from

The name is the bird. Little corellas gather in noisy flocks over Newcastle's parks and ovals, and anyone who has parked under one knows they leave their mark on a fresh coat of paint. It seemed right for a painting business that has spent years fixing what the weather, the salt and the birds do to houses here.

We work from Adamstown, between the city and the lake. Most of our jobs are within a quarter of an hour: weatherboard cottages in Merewether and Hamilton, brick bungalows in New Lambton, Colorbond roofs in Cardiff, decks around the lake at Belmont and Toronto. We know which streets take the salt, which sit in the damp, and which are inside a heritage conservation area.

Most of our work comes from people whose neighbours we've painted for. That's the only advertising we'd ever want, and it only happens if the paint is still sound years later. So we quote properly, prep properly, and put two full coats on everything.

How we work

Prep is the job

Most of what you pay a painter for is work you'll never see: washing, scraping, filling, sanding and priming. It's also where a cheap repaint cuts corners, which is why one quote can be half another. We'd rather spend the extra day on prep than come back in three years to a peeling wall with our name on it.

The quote lists every coat

Your written quote names every surface, every repair, the paint by maker, product and colour, and how many coats each surface gets. If prep turns up something nobody could see, like rot behind a board or rust under a flaking patch, we stop, show you and price it before doing any more.

We leave it the way we found it

Furniture goes back where it was, switch plates go back on, and the floors are swept at the end of every day, not just the last one. Inside, we finish the rooms you need first so you can keep living in the house while we work.

We say when it isn't our job

We're painters. Cracked roof tiles and loose ridge capping are a roofer's job, structural cracks are a builder's, and colour changes in a heritage area can need the council's say. When we find one of those, we tell you before we paint over it, and who to call.

About us: your questions

Are you licensed?

Yes. NSW requires a contractor licence to do, contract for or advertise residential painting worth more than $5,000 in labour and materials, including GST. Our licence number is on every page of this site and on every quote. (This is a demo business, so the number shown is a placeholder.)

Who will actually be at my house?

Our own crew, the same people from the first wash to the last coat. We don't hand jobs to whoever is free that week, and we'll tell you at the quote who's running your job and when they'll start.

Which paints do you use?

Trade paints from the major makers, the same brands you'll see in the strip on our home page. We choose the product for the surface and the exposure, and every one is named on your quote, so you can look it up or buy a tin for touch-ups later.

What hours do you work?

Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm, and Saturday mornings 8am to midday when a job needs it. Commercial and strata jobs can run after hours or over a weekend so a business doesn't have to close.

Why Adamstown?

It sits between Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, so most of the suburbs we work in are within half an hour, and many within ten minutes. That means early starts, and coming back for a touch-up doesn't cost you travel.

How long have you been painting?

Corella Painting has been painting houses around Newcastle since 2011. In that time the paints have changed more than the job has: the prep still decides whether a repaint lasts. (This is a demo business: the date is part of the sample.)

Tell us what needs painting

A few lines and a photo or two is enough. We'll ring to book a look, then leave you a written quote with every surface and every coat on it. No obligation, and no follow-up calls chasing you if you decide to wait a while longer.
